Dec 11, 2015: Hunt and Its Consortium’s Plan for Oncor
December 11, 2015 @ 11:45 am - 1:00 pm
THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT!!
On August 10th, Hunt Consolidated, a group of junior creditors, investment firms and the Texas teachers’ pension fund reached an agreement with Energy Future Holdings (EFH) in bankruptcy court for its $19 billion bid for the Oncor piece of EFH. Oncor is ring-fenced in a separate subsidiary of EFH. The other two parts of EFH include Luminant, a generation company and TXU Energy, a retail electric provider. Those two are set up in an EFH subsidiary called Texas Competitive Electric Holdings Company LLC (TCEH). As part of the deal, TCEH will be spun off to creditors in a tax free deal which satisfies $25 billion in debt owed to those creditors.
David Campbell, President of Hunt Utility Services and Chief Executive Officer of InfraREIT, Inc. will speak to the Dallas Electric Club about the proposed transaction at our December meeting.
Prior to joining Hunt, Campbell was president and chief operating officer of Bluescape Resources, an independent resource and investment company based in Dallas, Texas. From mid-2008 through 2012, Campbell served as CEO of Luminant, a competitive power generation subsidiary of EFH (previously TXU), and prior to that, Campbell served as EFH’s and TXU’s chief financial officer. He originally joined TXU Corp. in 2004 as executive vice president of corporate planning, strategy and risk. Before TXU, Campbell was a principal in the Dallas office of McKinsey & Company, where he led the Texas and Southern Region hubs of McKinsey’s corporate finance and strategy practice. From 2010 to 2012, Campbell served as a board member for the National Nuclear Accrediting Board and the Electric Power Research Institute. Campbell graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Yale University, a J.D. from Harvard Law School, and a master’s degree from Oxford University, where he studied as a Rhodes Scholar.
