The future of Fair Park has been in the news for a while now here in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, with the future management plans of the 277-acre park currently unknown.
A key participant in the future of Fair Park is long-time Dallas resident and businessman, Walt Humann. At our February luncheon, Mr. Humann will talk to us about Fair Park and the quest by the city to enter into a public/private partnership and have a non-profit manage the park.
Mr. Humann is well known in Dallas in the business world as well as in the public service sector. He is the former Chairman of Supervisory Board at Memorex-Telex Corporation as well as former Chairman of Exec. Comm, Director, and Exec. V.P. of Hunt Consolidated.
His public service career has spanned many sectors such as inner city revitalization, medical, education, transportation and others. His work over the years has resulted in some very distinguished awards: First White House Fellow from the State of Texas, the 2009 “John Garner Legacy of Leadership” award for public service, the Linz Award for community service in Dallas, and too many more to mention here!
A graduate from Dallas’ Hillcrest High School, Humann went on to earn degrees from M.I.T., Harvard Business School, and SMU Evening Law School. He married his high school sweetheart, Bea Read, and has three children and eleven grandchildren.
We look forward to hearing Mr. Humann’s vision of Fair Park at our February luncheon.
