Benjamin Hwang, P.E. is a Director with Advisian, the global advisory and consulting business of Worley Group, Inc with over 57,000 employees after the latest acquisition of Jacobs Engineering ECR. Ben leads the GridX practice of Advisian that helps utilities plan for the future of the
grid in 10 and 20 years.
Ben works side-by-side with clients to construct their long-term strategy and provides them with insights in a rapidly changing energy landscape
Ben has previous experience in technology, developing energy controls systems for Areva T&D, now owned by General Electric (GE). He also worked for the City of Naperville – Electric Utility Department, designing and integrating automation into its transmission substations. Originally growing up in Chicago, Ben has relocated to Seattle, Massachusetts, Los Angeles, and now Dallas to develop client relationships and share his experience in the energy transition.
Ben has an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and both a Master’s and Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois-Urbana Champaign. He has numerous publications looking at issues such as storm resiliency in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, developing off-grid power supplies for Africa, and increasing reliability in urban environments like Los Angeles
