Modernizing the Electrical Grid

Mark Carpenter, Sr. Vice President of T&D Operations, Oncor Electric Delivery, will talk to us about Oncor’s grid modernization transformation. His discussion will cover advances in technology combined with 1) demands for higher quality service, 2) competitive electrical markets, 3) a focus on ecological considerations, and 4) maintaining reasonable costs is leading to a transformation of the electrical grid and its operation.
Over Mark’s 38 year career, he has held various field management and engineering management positions in transmission and distribution. Recent assignments include Vice President and Chief Information Officer and Vice President and Chief Technology Officer. He is responsible for the development and implementation of the Advanced Metering System and its integration with the Outage Management System.
Mark earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering at Texas Tech and is active in professional activities. He is a member of the IEEE Power System Relaying Committee and the Texas Society of Professional Engineers and is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas. He is active in his church and is married with five kids, two daughter-in-laws, and five grandkids.
